Greetings!

W

elcome to the Barony of Ildhafn, in the Kingdom of Lochac
(Australia & New Zealand)

Here you will find information about the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) in Auckland (the City of Ildhafn) and Hamilton (the Canton of Cluain). We are also proud to have a group based at the University of Auckland, the Proto-College of St Dionysius.

Ildhafn (and indeed the SCA) is a group of people interested in all things medieval. We hold regular medieval events where we participate in medieval tournaments, dress like medieval people, feast, dance and sing. Between events, most of us practice medieval arts & crafts, and pursue specialised areas of interest such as embroidery, armouring, sewing, heraldry, warfare, calligraphy, illumination, brewing & cooking. There are few medieval crafts that one of us would not have touched on at some time.

If you're new here, and interested in attending an event, please feel free to contact any of the people on this site. We're always keen to meet new people and make new friends!

In 1480, in Vincenza, a babe was born (many in fact, but we are only concerned with one). His name was Gaetano dei Conti di Tiene: this child grew to a man (which happens a lot with young boys), and this man became a Saint (which doesn't happen to many), a patron saint to . . . Gamblers.
